Its been awhile since I last blog-ed. Just came back from Pangkor for an office trip. Fun (altho mestilah ada drama). We went shooting, snorkelling, kayak-ing, banana boat-ing, and some other island stuff. I forgot to bring my camera, so here are pictures taken from Mazuin's facebook :)
ANYWAY, what I wanted to talk about is my first Client. Ahaha. It was for my dear friend from UIA, Elya Ezrin, (who we call Y), who is also my schoolmate back in SRKSJ, my primary school. We weren't close in primary, but we met again in UIA and got really close. Funny how life turns out. So, being a close friend, she knew of my love affair with weddings and she thought the hantarans I did for my Engagement was lovely, so, at her Hens Dinner, she asked me to do her hantarans. I was shocked at first, that she would entrust a rookie to do her hantarans, but was also excited. Her one request was that I use fresh-flowers. She gave me all the freedom with the rest, i.e; type of flower, color, props.

Y's Arabian-themed-Hens Dinner |
Since she wanted fresh flowers, and her wedding was on Friday
morning, that means I would have to take leave on Thursday. Well, because Y was one of the closest friends I had during my university years, I said YES.
Then, 3 weeks before her wedding, I got to know that I had to attend a 5-day course from Monday-Friday, the Friday being the day of Y's nikah. SHIT. Not only would I not be able to make it for her nikah, I would also not have time to do her hantarans. It was a few days before Raya, and I had to find a replacement if I were to withdraw from the course. I was torn on whether I should tell Y right away or wait it out and pray that I find a replacement. The chances of getting a replacement was sooooo slim at that time cause most people have gone for their Raya holidays. So, I decided to tell her so that she would have time to find someone to do the hantarans. I was afraid if I didn't let her know ASAP, that it would be too late for her to find anyone else. It was the toughest thing that I had to do, to cause panic to a future bride few weeks before the wedding. I felt absolutely TERRIBLE. I didn't stop looking for a replacement and prayed for a miracle. Suddenly, I got a call saying there were 2 people interested in the course. Not 1, but 2 people! I guess God must've heard my prayers (and probably Y's as well ahah). I immediately called Y and relieved her from the misery that I had caused. OMG. Note to self : Exhaust ALL options before giving bad news to a bride-to-be. SORRY Y!! But I did it with the bestest intention so that in the event I couldn't find a replacement, it wouldn't be too late for her to get a replacement. Ahhhhhh. Anyway, all settled. Thank God.
Thursday morning, I went to Mydin in USJ to get some other stuff (eg; casing for the ring, trays for the cakes and sireh junjung, aluminum foils, ribbons and some other stuff to be used as embelishments for the bouquets). Reached home at about 12pm, and started on the hantarans. I finished the last tray at about 6.30pm. Then I started on the nikah bouquet and the decorations for her room (flowers for the dressing table, side table and bed). While I was doing the last vase for the room decorations, at about 9pm, the Bride, Maria, Atun and Aishah came to get the hantarans. They waited for me to finish the last vase. I wanted to follow them to Y's house and help out there, but I was tooo tired and I had to pick up my bridesmaid baju kurung from my Cindy that night (yes, baru siap at about 10.30pm. last minute hantar, nasib siap!). When I came back, I did little hand bouquets for the 6 bridesmaids. I did the bouquet for her reception which was on Saturday on Friday night. So, yeah, I strained my back afterwards. Phewwwww. Well that is what I would do for a friend who made it in my good book :)
Here are pictures of my first real project :)
